Forever In The Garden
by Sarah Peabody

In the garden of unity the weeds tempt
Plying Fate with unclean hands
That beckon as the siren sings
A song of sweet contempt.
In the providence of gravity the voices lie
Seething with their cruel demands
That hold the soul close and sting
As staring flowers close their eyes.
In the Tower of Intention the bodies strive
To feel the present as the past
And give hope to a dream long dead
Only then will they truly come alive.
In the garden of destiny the statues rise,
The nomads unabashedly aghast
As they hear now what was always said:
Once you wake, you truly close your eyes.
