Silence
by Sarah Peabody

I'm waking up now
To the silent noises
That permeate my world
In shades of blue and gold.
The afternoon is waning
And listening is easier
Than facing it
But in the silence
I am truly a part of it
Connected to the world
In a way that's never been.
When I go out,
And I know I will,
Can't take it with
So it's left there
Churning in the air
And awaiting my return.
