“The Raven and the Dove”
Come, my sweet love.
You shall be my Othello,
and I your Desdemona.
Trust no honest bird
who shall whisper of deceit,
for the truth lies in my kiss,
and not in his jealous words.
To my father I would speak such falsehoods,
but never unto you.
A gauze of deceit we weave about our hearts,
(sadly, it must be)
but never betwixt ourselves.
Let us be as the dusk,
a woven pattern of the day and night,
(with no stars and grim prophecies)
and into the setting sun we shall fly.
For there is no greater union
than of the raven and the dove.
Let your heart harbor no guilt,
for we are bound to each other
and have no other master than our love.
Whip me such honest knaves
who toil for injustice.
