First of all, I would once again like to thank for reviewing my past work. I really appreciate it!

This poem is based off of the recent trial of, Christopher Pittman, a South Carolina boy who shot his grandparentswhen he was twelve. After being in jail for three years and fifteen by the time of the trial, the boy was just recently sentenced an adult punishment of 30 years in jail.

Choices

-

Killer: a twelve year old boy.

Two grandparents dead,

“A black man,” he said,

Asleep in their beds,

“Kidnapped me and then

Both shot in their heads.

I ran down and I hid.”

-

Killer: fifteen year old boy.

The grandson on trail,

“It was Zoloft,” he said,

Been in jail for a while,

“It garbled my thinking.

Speaks his denial.

It wasn’t my fault.”

-

Killer: adult, age fifteen.

Boy sentenced to jail

“You are Guilty,” they said,

With no sign of bail,

“You made choices and so

His face scared and pale.

Only you are to blame.”

I can only know what you think if you tell me. Otherwise I am lost. Please review!
