Divide and Conquer

Prologue

The tensions in the United States of America over several issues, most especially the proposal of a new state in the Pacific Northwest, had been rising steadily. The new state would be one which consisted of entirely homosexuals and be recognized as the Fifty first state. This incited nationwide protests and riots, while the eastern states opposed this while the western states stood behind it. This was just the beginning as gay rights was the marker for several issues between the two halves of the nation. Finally on August 7, 2039 A.D., the Secession Act and the Division Treaty were passed by the western states and once again the whole of the U.S. was split into two separate nations, the first time since the Civil War. The Union of the Eastern States of America and the Alliance of the Pacific States of the West emerged from this. For eight years the two split nations have been in bitter conflict with each other, each trying to get the better on the other. The discovery of a new element in the southern continent of Antarctica has spurred on a death race by both nations to get to this isolated element, as it is extremely rich as a raw natural power source. The two empires teeter on the very brink of a second Civil War…
