Heather
Heather never found it weird that her friends were huddled and whispering when she was walking away, she never found it weird that they never lent her money or come over to hang out. She never found it weird at all. one shot
Heather loved her friends, she loved doing things for them, so that they may like her.
Oh how, she would sacrafice so much of her lunch if her friend camewithout one, or, how much money she would bring for another because they forgot theirs'.
For Christmas, Heather made each of them best friends braclette. Heather got a toy kitty, an eraser shaped like a heart, and a pack of mints in reutrn.
Heather cherished those gifts.
Just like she cherished her friends.
Heather never found it strange that they would huddle and whisper when she came over, but never talked much when she was there.
Heather never found it weird that she would see her group of friends at the movies, instead, she would walk over and join them. They were always happy to see her and scoot down to let her join, sure, they would whisper and nudge each other during the movie, but they were just lousy movie watchers, that's all.
Heather never found it odd that they never invited her to their house.
She never found it weird that they didn't come to her birthday parties.
She never did.
It was High School now. Heather was excited because she got to hang out with her friends more now, her mother told her she could.
Heather met a boy, the first boy she ever had feelings for. He was nice to her, and was always smiling when she came over.
But her friend liked this boy.
And heather could never go against her friend.
So, the boy and her friend dated. It was tearing Heather up, but she loved her friends and they loved her.
One day, Heather was walking around the corner when she saw her friends near her locker. Smiling, she started to walk over.
It was Heather's birthday.
She wanted to give her invitations out to her friends.
Until she heard what they were talking about.
"God, I can't believe you got together with him!!"
"I know, he's so hot! I love my little Jeffie Poo!"
Heather stared. Jeff wasn't her boyfriend, the boy was.
"Oh my god! You still have those gaudy bracelette?"
"I never got around ot throwing it away, I guess."
And Heather watched, as they took off her christmas bracelette and threw it carelessly away.
Heather felt like her heart had broken into many pieces that could not be counted.
So, Heather did the only thing she could do.
She told the boy that her friend was cheating on him.
The boy took it rough, but thanked Heather in reutrn.
Too bad he didn't believe her, though.
He went to her friends and questioned them. Her friends merely said that Heather was jealous and obsessed with him. The boy didn't speak to Heather for weeks on end and her friends abandoned her.
They told her she was a snake.
An evil, cunning, disloyal snake.
And when Heather asked about the bracelette, they told her that they accidently threw it away.
It was an obvious lie.
But Heather was a gullible girl and believed them.
So now it's Heather birthday.
She is sitting at her table, balloons and party markers all over her house. Heather sits there with a blank stare on her face.
Heather no longer cries for her friends to come, she takes it as they just forgot.
She knew they didn't forget.
She knew.
Taking off the candles one by one, Heather counts.
