Chapter 5: Narrow Escape

The cab had finally stopped in front of their house, and the kids jumped out of it. Adam paid the cab and ran into the house. “Okay you guys, we have to leave right now. I want you two to pack a suitcase with your clothes, and nothing else, understand?” he hurriedly told them. They simply nodded and ran to their room. About ten minutes passed as Adam continued to pack his own bag.

“Are you ready?” Adam jumped at the voice, to find Ashra standing there in his doorway. He nodded wordlessly as he closed his bag. “The children had best hurry,” she said and walked to the front door.

“How does she do that?” Adam thought out loud. Once his bag was fully closed, he ran to Aidan and Skye’s room. “You guys ready?” he panted. They both nodded with innocent smiles on their faces.

“Are we going to Disneyland?” Aidan asked, squeezing her teddy bear tight. Adam just had to laugh.

“No Shorty we’re not,” he chuckled. “You ready, Skye?” Skye nodded and picked up their suitcases. “All right let’s go,” he said and took both their hands.

Meanwhile, Ashra could sense something outside the house. Something big and dangerous was coming closer and closer to the house. She opened the door and jumped outside to see nothing. “Something is definitely wrong,” she thought. Ashra could hear all three of them behind her. “Hurry,” she said. Adam nodded and brought them outside. Ashra turned just in time to see a huge ball of fire heading straight for the house. Adam turned to see it as well.

“Holy sh--”

”Run!” Ashra yelled. As they were running, Ashra stayed behind them to ensure their safety. While running, Aidan had dropped her teddy bear.

“Carrie!” Aidan cried. She slipped her hand out of Adam’s, causing him to halt to a stop.

“Aidan no! Get back here!” Adam cried.

“I can’t leave Carrie!” Aidan yelled. She began to run back towards her teddy bear. Ashra saw what was happening as the little girl rushed past her.

“Aidan!” Adam screamed. Ashra turned on her heel and ran after Aidan. Aidan got down on her knees and held the bear close to her, forgetting that a ball of fire was heading straight for the house in front of her. But it all came rushing back to her when she looked up, feeling the heat of the fire getting closer. Aidan let out a scream, and shielded herself with the very bear that she risked her life to retrieve. She knew that she was going to die, until she felt two arms wrap around her from behind.

“Alyེ astro ven!” Ashra chanted loudly. She held Aidan to her with her left arm, while extending her right arm in front of her, as if to stop the fire from coming any closer. Adam watched in horror as the flames nearly consumed them. But he noticed the shield being formed around them, seeping out of Ashra’s right hand. Adam stood there in awe, holding Skye close to him while watching the most amazing thing he’d ever seen. The fire seemed to disintegrate within itself as it hit the shield Ashra had created. The ball of fire had disappeared, and Ashra had put down her shield. Once it was gone, Ashra collapsed to one knee, regaining her strength and breath. She still held Aidan in her arm, with Aidan holding onto her tightly. After a short moment, Ashra stood up, turned around and walked back to Adam and Skye. “You’d best carry him. Who knows what else will be sent here,” she said. Ashra picked up Aidan’s suitcase with her free hand and began to run down the sidewalk while Adam picked up Skye and followed her.

A/N: Okay, you may as well kill me. It's been far too long since I updatedthis. I just didn't know if anyone would miss it or not, lol. Well, all I have to say for this chapter is that: 1. Yes, I know it's weird to have a large ball of fire streaming from the sky at you, and no one else in the streets to really notice, lol. 2. The weird words Ashra is speaking are made up, so they don't mean anything lol. I hope you enjoyed this chapter, and I'll be updating as soon as I get reviews that tell me to do so. Thank you :)
