The simplicity of youth
Lost to the cause
Of growing up
Maturing
I feel these responsibilities
Weighing heavy on my shoulders
New and exciting
A wake up call
To life
Count to three
Breathe
And start again

One

At first glance
Things appear easy
Girl
Boy
A mutual attraction

Two

Dig a little deeper
Things not so easy
Puzzle
Fit the pieces
If you can

Three

Now I see
So many strands
To our world
Intertwine and lock
We are only human

Breathe

Why do people question?
Who dares?
Who has the right?
To query
My life
They don’t know
What I see
What I feel
How dare they judge?
Out to meddle
To ruin
To taint
What I have found
Anger at this
Blood rises
Boiling with the passion
Of one who has found
Something worthwhile at last
In a life of ambivalence

BREATHE

Relax
Take in the air
Flood the system
Flush out this frustration
I won’t give up
On this

Start again

Calm
It will all work out soon
Just a momentary lapse
Of control
Of sense
The world always seems
A darker place
When you wake up and realise
Life isn’t so simple anymore
