The last sunset we saw together was achingly beautiful

As the sun went down in crimson splashes

The light gradually faded and darkness overwhelmed

The bright red orange and yellow most brilliant in its last moment

Final futile attempt to 'rescue' the light

Goes out in a blazing glory of orange sparks

--

The moon goddess rules over her domain

It was her time to show the beauty her world knew

No bright interfering colours hurting your eyes

The beauty of the night was in its coldness and indifference

She didn't like the foolish courage and emotions the day sparked

--

The goddess offered much more

The subtle whisper of power

The pervading voice

The hunger for more

--

Silvery white pitch black darkness

Spots of quicksilver dotting the midnight sky

Remember counting them one by one with you

One by one into eternity

--

So many dreams died under those stars

Spent my life gazing at them

As men live and die they will continue to stare down on us

Empires fall and people fade but always they will stay

--

The sun will always set one day

Sooner or later we will have to pay what's due

For all the happiness and the joy

There will be a price

The final price all of us have to pay

No matter what I will always remember

Lost love makes you realize the sun will set one day
