The Dance

One step
No turning back now
One look
Is all it took for me to know that it’s true

And they stare in mock disbelief
As I turn away from you
They don’t know you’re a thief
ButI’ve learned all I need to

And I was too stupid
To see past your lies
To see the truth in your eyes
And you were too perfect
To be, reality

And so I walk away alone
As they play our special song
And I close my eyes because I’ve known
Known it all along

I hold out my arms and spin
As the music starts its trance
But this time, this time I win
As I dance this dance
Alone

And I was too stupid
To see past your lies
To see the truth in your eyes
And you were too perfect
To be, reality

And so I dance this dance alone
As they play our special song
And I close my eyes because I’ve known
Known it all along

My life is the dance
I have to dance alone

They stare in mock disbelief
When the song finally ends
And I walk away from you
Away from all my broken friends
And I think I’ve always known
That you
Were a dance I had to dance
Alone

A song.
