Prologue
Thaddeus Hobberts was a man of great integrity and intellect, having graduated from Oxford University as valedictorian of his class.
He was tall and thin, and always wore a suit and tie (though for his meals, he wore a cravat). He was a respected member of the city council and was one of the first people that public came to with business problems.
Despite his noble reputation and good looks, Mr. Thaddeus Hobberts was cursed. Of course few people actually believed it, as it was known only in rumour, but rumour always has true beginnings.
It was an unusual curse. It was a curse of dreams. Once every other year, for twenty-six years, Thaddeus Hobberts had a dream. Of course, being an unusual curse, he had unusual dreams. Most of the time, the things in his dream would come true. Nasty, horrible things.
It was only then that the townspeople knew that Thaddeus Hobberts had had a dream, and only then did they question his past.
But now, I assume you want to know why someone would bother cursing a man of such good qualities, for placing a curse on someone is such a tiring thing to do, especially if you want to do it right. So now, for your pleasure, I present to you Thaddeus Hobberts and his curse.
