The loneliness eats away at your soul

And one thought gnaws away at your brain

You think you can cut away the darkness

With a knife

Try to wash away the loneliness

With your blood

Maybe your problems can be thrown up and flushed

Down the toilet

Or your pain can be filled with alcohol and drained

In one gulp from the

Glass of your mind

You’re thinking that

You’ll stop feeling worthless

After one sniff

One sniff

One cut

One gulp

One night

One time

And then some

But never deep enough

Never enough liquid

Never enough powder

Never enough food going up your throat

Never enough to die

Never enough

And then you start to realize that it’s

NEVER ENOUGH

Not enough to soothe the ache anymore

The knife isn’t sharp enough to slice through

The depressed feelings

A couple glasses of spiked punch don’t make you forget

That you’re stuck in this world

And the fairy has flown out of the fairy dust

So now longer can you snuff out your pain

The magic touch disappears

And the smoke doesn’t clear

So eventually you start to feel the needle

The burn going down your throat

The fact that you’re inhaling poison

Hits your brain instead of the buzz

But there’s nothing you can do

And the addiction takes over you.
