Ashen gray the luminaries,
This numb feeling is being carried,

Yellow rays are filtered through,
The bars on windows in this room,

The rickety chair creaks with relief,
The woman sits with pain and grief,

Her wrinkled face gives way to time,
Her tears roll down and sing the rhyme,

"Julia, Julia," the tears burn fierce,
She lifts her head to the window nearest,

The bitter coldness has sunken through,
She can see it from her tomb,

The barren weather wraps up her mind,
With thoughts of loved ones left behind,

Julia, Julia, please don't cry,
For there lays and answer within your eyes.
