bittersweet release

worthless piece of shit
she thinks of herself
and others might as well feel about her
she’s living in her own purgatory
for the sin of existence
i deserve this pain
she tells herself over and over again
carving her arms with the ceremonial dagger
blood sacrifice
loss of innocence
return of innocence
bittersweet
but still not cleansed
crude scratches on her skin
and she’s an animal in her own eyes
she can’t get out of her own trap
enslaved in the hellhole of her world
held fast by the chains that chafe her wrists
the crimson tang to complement the rusting metal
corrosive conflagrations pouring scarlet streams
over scars of the past
scars of the heart and mind
that were never meant to fade
she looks at the beautiful blade of lethal silver
and dreams of the relief sweeping over her
as the pain pulsates within her veins
but not today
no more the disappointment of mere temporary comfort
she approaches the open window
delicate metal drawn irresistibly to the looming magnetic pole
unable to control the tormented soul inside
thrashing to break free
and she takes the leap of faith
no, leap of fate
submitting to the forceful pull of gravity’s claws
her consciousness lost in a blur of grays
and she’s falling, falling, falling...
into the concave mirror reflection of her damned former life
