I want to stand naked in the rain

Like some lush, fleshy, tribal fertility goddess

Symbol of life being drenched by the

Streams of moisture drowning, wakening

The earth’s soil like seed,

Then nursing the ground’s children

like a mother’s milk.

We may seem dry and barren now,

Myself and the Earth with her bleached grasses

Parched, slowly trembling in the wind

For want of the sky’s love.

But with the moisture cupping in my palms,

Rain streaking down my face, rolling in

Sheets of dampness down the hills and

Valleys like a blanket,

I know- and she knows-

That life is

Coming,

And something pure

Will be birthed,

And we can start

Again.
