That word you said is awfully offensive

But there’s no need to get hostile or defensive

If you try a few alternatives I think you’ll start to see

It’s not so hard to tame your tongue, oh wouldn’t you agree!

When you find yourself in verbal confrontation

It’s a chance for seeking inner contemplation

To show to your opponent that you have finesses and tact

And all the other qualities he may have thought you lacked.

With just a little more imagination

You can use a language of your own creation

A little practice demonstrates how easy it can be

To articulate your intellect vocabularily.

You might try using ninny, schmo, or pinhead

Or scatterbrain or dope or maybe drop dead

An insult can be funny when you say it with a smile

They’ll scratch their heads and laugh while being put down all the while!

A war of words is such an aggravation

But each of us has just one obligation

We can choose our words more wisely – and say them with some class

Instead of blurting something like “I’ll kick your big fat…”

Ask me for some subtle substitutions

I’ll help you find alternative solutions

Like blockhead, prune, and noddy, and dimwit, wag, and goose

It’s quite extraordinary when your tongue is on the loose!

Yes, freedom of expression is a virtue

But abusing it might cause someone to hurt you

So choose a word that’s equal in compatibility

And may all the words you say have more originality!
