Growing up/College
Sung to the tun of Fastball's "The Way"
I made up my mind,
I’m going to Sonoma
I’ll leave after I turn 18 in May,
An exit from the small-towns sheltering safety,
I am still going even though I am afraid
I cleaned up my room
And I started packing,
Everything I need to go away
And when I drive up there and start to learn stuff
I’m sure it’s true, I willcome backhome someday
(chorus)
Everyone knows as soon as you leave you can’t go home,
even in summer you’re just too old,
You’ve lost something golden
When you packed and went away
I can see my path laid out before my feet
It doesn’t lead home
But to new things to meet
New friends and new faces
I’ll learn to stay here, I’ll stay!
(end chorus)
One day I woke up,
And I missed my mommy
Calling to me to get up and out of bed
I can’t believe I left my small-town safety
Why did I leave home
Now I am on my own instead.
(Chorus)
heheh. I thought this up after a statistics test. Good way to pass the time. In case anyone is wondering, it is sung to the tuneof that old 90's song ("they made their minds/ and they started walking./they left before the sun came up that day). Also, you can insert whatever word you want for Sonoma, if you want to sing it for yourself. The words are all my own idea however so no claiming it as your own.
