Child Play

Thousands of children,
Restless souls of wonderment.

Innocent to the world
Innocent of the pain
Innocent of how there is nothing to gain.

Their eyes that sparkle,
The vicious lips that pout.

Unaware of the dangers
Unaware that they’re game
Unaware of their predators fame.

The taste of their sweet skin
A child’s subtle cry of protest

They don’t know that it’s wrong.
They don’t know how to say “no”
They don’t know of ‘choices’ at four

So giving in to the torment
They are so willfully wrecked.
A ruined piece of splendid life
That now knows so much more
Than even someone aged twice.
