The Children Do Not Worry
The children do not worry:
Of sleepless nights
Of endless fights.
They know only:
The world is theirs and devoid of all sense
And all of it ends at the beginning of the fence.
Children do not see that:
Little girls should wear proper a skirt
Or that some kisses don’t heal but hurt.
They see only:
The desire of white, grey rimmed clouds
The pounding of little feet on summer grassy grounds.
The animal that lurks on the other side of the fence
Need not make its presence known to their little world yet.
But oftentimes it happens anyways
And a child sees the end of innocent days.
Still—
The children do not worry.
