A.N: These are real notes by a real 8th grade student’s…mine. I hope you enjoy them as much as my teacher will…I turned these in to her…
The Sarcastic Notes of an 8th Grader
Friction- The force that one surface exerts on another when the 2 rub against each other…
Sliding Friction- When solid surfaces slider over each other. Well wooooiiieee! Those sciencey people sure is smart with these names!!
Rolling Friction- Occurs when an object rolls over a surface. Holy Batman!! I would’ve never guessed that!!
Fluid Friction- no…no, don’t tell me, it’s when an object movies through fluid!
Gravity- The force that pulls an object towards the earth. It doesn’t seem to work on your head, It’s still in the clouds…
Free Fall- When the only force acting on an object is gravity, it’s in…Free Fall! OOOOOoohhhhhh! I was right!!! -
Projectile- An object that is thrown…I would mention how utterly stupid this definition is but…there’s no need…
Air Resistance- Objects falling through the air experience this type of fluid friction. Air…fluid, oh yeah!! Definitely, I get it, it’s so like the way your other definitions were!!!
Terminal Velocity- The greatest velocity an object reaches. Darn, no sarcastic reply for this one!
Weight- The measure of the amount of gravity on an object. Man, they’re good…
Momentum- The product of it’s mass and velocity. Isn’t there supposed to be some long complicated non-understandable definition…?
Newton’s 3rd Law of Conservation of Momentum- The total momentum of the objects that interact does not change. Now we're talking!
Satellite- An object that orbits another in space. OMG I bow down to this amazing smartness!
Centripetal Force- A force that causes an object to move in a circle…meaning, a lollypop and my friend’s eyes are the object perhaps…?
Newton’s 1st Law- An object at rest will stay at rest and an object at motion willl remain in motion at a constant speed unless effected by an outside force. If it took mankind centuries to figure this out, we’re doomed…
Newton’s 2nd Law- The net force an object is equal to the product of it’s acceleration and it’s mass. Don’t even get me started…
