Her Truth

She awakes,

Bright and early,

Ready to face the day,

Excited that the morning has come,

She awakes,

Way to early,

Unable to get up,

Wishing the day hadn’t come,

She gets ready,

Looking her best,

Her smile shines,

She’s ready to face the day,

She gets ready,

Feeling ugly,

Her smile feels fake,

She can’t face the day,

She goes to school,

Walks through the halls full of confidence,

Laughs and giggles with her friends,

Has a brillant day,

She goes to school,

Walks around like she’s invisible,

Fakes her laugh for everyone,

Makes it through the day,

She goes home,

Makes her family happy,

Gets ready for bed,

Looks in the mirror,

She goes home,

Makes her family believe she’s okay,

Prepares for sleep,

Looks in the mirror,

She knows the truth,

She can see herself,

She knows what people see,

And she hides the truth,

She continues to pretend,

And hides the truth,

But she can’t last forever,

And the real her threatens to break free,

So she tries to be happy,

But it all hurts her so much,

She’ll pretend forever,

And die when she breaks,

So there she goes again,

With the truth haunting her
