We Are Like

We are like the crisp clear water and blazing fire,

So different that our need to feel equal is dire.

Turning away, we leave each others sides,

No longer capable of absorbing all the lies.

We were like the ones with a friendship that could never end,

But now our heavy hearts could never mend.

Lives are sure to continue on,

Much like the never failing dawn.

We aren’t like the star-crossed lovers from Romeo and Juliet,

But I will never forget the day we met.
