Elementary Wisdom
Sifting softly and
slowly through their minds,
Taking in the numbs of
err and writhing
In the write,
Whilst a great weakness
sets inward—
To reap the souls
Of the innocent
When the love is gone,
No more breathing,
Despite the early
rising,
Living words of futile
charm,
Gaining recognition for
the frivolous
Activities of a
once-touched youth
To breathe the last
Of the love is there,
Taken from the soul,
Eating the innocence
Rolling and riding,
And running to beat the
devil
When his grip holds one
so tight
In the midst of the
gain
To love the innocence
And eat the soul
From the breath
Of the last—
For
The soldier of fortune
In his tiny clothes
learns nothing
But the depth of
chartering
His soul’s lost
journey
Into the unknown
And boiling
