FOREWORD: I almost got runover several times because I thought I was invisible. Now I just live in a place with no cars.

DIFFIDENT

While skies, grey with the gravity of rain,
remind me tensely of the world’s weight,
malpractice of chemicals in the brain
repress the urge to remove malaise. (Fate

alone carved this wilderness for me in
bone.) Bitten lips and downcast eyes submit,
pondering on pavement, black saccharin
blurred beneath self-conscious feet. Won’t admit

the world is beautiful (pardon my defeat).
Strangers, standingin a ringof strained beats,
gasp – bewildered by my slow, silent stride
gliding, unhurried, to the other side…

I must reach my destiny transparent.

But sadly, loneliness walks apparent.
