The birds that sing their summer song,

Cannot live here during winter.

Yet your song is sweet and long,

Your song will leave me never.

A rose's beauty is simply sweet,

But it too dies amongst the frost.

Your beauty never shall replete,

Your sweetness never shall be lost.

A summer's day is wond'rfully warm,

but it cools away with night.

Your warmth is with your charm,

No frost can that loveliness bite.

All beauty round me seems to end,

Except for you, my dearest friend.
