The Best
Don’t watch for me around the corner
(A secret Godot in the making)
I’m through with this
Eternal wait for
(nothing)something
something(nothing)s
Sweet.
(Bittersweet chocolate; what irony, what woe, sweet.)
I Would I like another try? I
What in bloody hell am I doing here?
Waiting for some lacklust pony
(Swaybacked and limping,
Jaundiced and cock-hipped)
To gallop galiantly across my gaze?
As if pigs could fly,
Or fat ladies sing!
(But really, you know--
Sometimes women will sing)
Dear.
(There’s something wrong with your head, dear.)
I Deer living in headlights I
Eyes in the back of my head
Reeling (paranoia) filmstrips with each
Touchtouchtouchtouchkiss
Hand(lips)chinhips(tips) but
Strings have been snapped to be
Strewn across miles
(Puppetry’s outdated; didn’t you know?)
To be left undefined
(Lost my dictionary today.
Wonder where it has gone)
Love.
(I need a fresh page, love; why, that’s a good girl.)
I How sourly the moon wanes, in submission to the sun. I
Explode in eight senses
(’Least three in otherworlds)
Go swiftly and softly and gently
And whole,
(With holes in your socks--
And there beneath your toes)
Because there’re holes and there’re wholes
And it seems they’re all the same
(Why don’t you inspect your own soul?)
When you remember me late, maybe
(Say you’d be better off anyway.)
Mine.
( Good morrow, my friends; )
- St. Valentine’s is past. -
I Would these woodbirds but to couple now? I
(I say for the best.)
Well. I hate QuickEdit 2.03. ::growls:: In case that wasn't already apparent enough. e.e
In any case, yes.
FORMATTING IMPROVISATIONS
- Spacing is off; QE2.03 won't even let me put in periods to improv the number of spaces between lines... -.-
- Those lines with I's before and after are in replacement of the straight line that is made when SHIFT-ing when pressing the upperleft-to-lowerright slash (forwardslash?).
- At the end, the line from Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (which does not belong to me, by the way, and may have been worded differently from the actual text, having come straight from memory), the first line was supposed to have brackets andthe second, "curly" brackets.
I really do think we ought to complain. This is getting out of hand...
