Distorted Mirror

I can’t stand you,

Your beauty, your sight

Your love and courage

You’re always right, you have to be

Because I’m always wrong.

When I’m with you, I’m alone

When I’m beautiful you’re more so,

So I’m not beautiful or courageous,

I’m ugly, I’m afraid

I’m screaming to a world

That listens to your every whisper

Yet ignores my cries of pain.

Why do I love you?

Why do I stay so ugly and alone?

Why, why, why?

I hate you, I love you,

I need you.

I need you to be right to show me I’m wrong

I need you to make me cry

Addictive, pathetic, desperate

I hate it.

You show me what I am,

What I can never be.

That’s why I love you,

I hate you,

You’re my distorted mirror.
