voodoo doll

a plain, dull girl
brown eyes reflecting silver sheen
reserved and soft-spoken
yet the bane of my existence
isn’t it always the quiet ones you have to watch out for?

through static orbs, her figure slides out of focus
but her fading façade becomes all the more clear
and i can see beyond
to the pathetic excuse for a homo sapiens
some mindless derivative of cultured humanity
intrinsically evil
my nemesis

i exact my revenge for every fault and sin
a stab for every flaw and weakness
but the pressure builds up
and the anesthetics of ignorance don’t last forever
the moon strikes the heart
signaling the end of day
and the true senses awaken

but overdue epiphanies don’t mean a thing
to self-punctured voodoo dolls
broken down pin by pin
(she was never one to complain
of caustic heartaches
and ghost pains of severed ties
thought to be long gone)

glass eyes—
i saw but did not see
pincushion—
she felt but did not feel
blind
numb
imbecile
one and the same

i come to bitter realization
that i’ve only cursed myself
