Game Over

As I sleep, as I dream,
Pure sadness is plaguing me.
He has left me, he is gone,
In his game, I was his pawn.

He is nothing, the game is done,
I cannot tell which of us has won.
It doesn’t matter anymore to me,
I’ll leave him alone; let him be.

What he does with his life I do not care,
When I was in need of him, he was not there.
I pray for whomever is next to be caught,
It was his love that I sought.

I wake now, see him by my side,
I hold him now, too relieved to cry.
He looks at me, and holds me tight,
This has been a most confusing night.

He would never let me go,
This is the truth, this I know.
I thought true of this dream,
But dreams are oft not what they seem.
