Prowling

Oh wait for me great silver Moon,
Worry not, I’ll go home soon.
Delay thy rising just a while,
To my home ’tis just a mile.

I get home and slip in my bed,
The blood is pounding in my head.
My breathing comes hard and fast,
How much longer can I last?

I’ve been running for half a year,
I’ve been everywhere, but mostly here.
There’s a farm nearby with much to eat,
I hide in fields of full-grown wheat.

Roosters crow come the dawn,
When sunlight hits a dew-filled lawn.
I feast on cattle in the night,
When the Moon casts eerie light.

I hunt at night and sleep in day,
Changing places where I lay.
To be caught would be a disastrous thing,
In the night to the Moon I sing.

But when I sing, they say I howl,
So when I sing, I also prowl.
I keep changing position so they cannot find,
The great white wolf that plagues their mind.

They try to find me, it’s funny to see,
Running in circles thinking they’re free.
At night they search and at night I hunt,
I’ll show them all I’m no mere runt.

Already a few have I caught,
In the swamps so they may rot.
I speak with them there, to learn their tricks,
They are nothing but red-necked hicks.

I’ll kill them all, of that I’m sure,
Because stupidity has no cure.
In the swamps they shall sink,
While cold spring water do I drink.

The Moon has risen, the Stars do shine,
This great victory shall be mine.
For I will not have it any other way,
I’ll sleep now and through the day.

A/N: Just wanted everyone to know that I have nothing against rednecks.......
