The word of war is much more sinister

Than dying, raping, killing fellow men.

But are the men who fought true murderers?

They sit at home and say “remember when?”

Remember we were youth and young galore?

We marched off praising our great president.

We marched off shouting battle hymns for war.

We shouted hymns of war while off we went.

Remember running up that blood soaked beach?

Remember killing people that did fight?

We killed that man who children he did teach.

We stopped and thought if we were in the right.

We saw a widow run to him and cry,

“Oh God!” and held his hand whilst he did die.
