I whimpered as I crawled into my sisters’ bedroom. This was my sanctuary. This was the only place where I was safe from him. My uncle. I despised him.

Then again, there was no sanctuary. I realize this as he burst into the room. Pulling me up by my hair, his eyes slitted in anger. I sighed. He was drunk again.

Screaming in pain as his fist connected with my jaw, I fell into the wall as he stalked out. I closed my eyes in silent hope…a hope that better days would come. A hope that was never given to those in better condition than I. Those people…my “friends” will never feel so in need of hope as I. Never.

I looked out the window. Smiling slightly at my teacher’s useless words, I sang a few notes. The punishment was never much. A slap, a smack. Nothing compared to the monster I used to face at home. The one called my uncle. It didn’t matter.

In my school, I was seen as the rich snob who wasn’t friends with anyone. So why should I care? The ones known as my “friends” were worthless. They never lasted for more than an hour.

Heh. I am one person. I have a twin. I am a fighter. A fighter capable of things no one should understand. My other is a pure maiden, a girl who is too naive to survive in the world. Both show up, but few know the latter.

I was a fighter. No one should see. Not once they saw me. My uncle had, of course, hated me. Good thing I killed him.

Too bad I’m an orphan, ne? Many could be my friends, but it is not that reason they avoid me. I am not a child. I understand this. They want my inheritance. The inheritance that I want to keep safe.

My sister. Ironic, really…I used to have many more, but six of them were driven to suicide. But you don’t know me, do you? My name is Kai. I’m the older sister of a small delicate girl named Yuki. She’s very small. We both are.

In fact, the only way you can tell we are related is because of our eyes…and our hair, I suppose. Our eyes. Bright teal, bordering on aquamarine. So distinguishable. Bad for when you wanted to hide. Our hair was raven black, hers slightly more dark. Our skin was like porcelain. Hers more pale.

I was five minutes older than her, and I stood a full six inches taller than her. But…you know what pisses me off? Yuki is too nice. She was sent to the hospital on her sixth birthday…saving a puppy.

It hurts. Not knowing what to do. That’s why we learned to fight. She knows how to fight. She’s just too gentle.

I hate it. She won’t protect herself as long as she only gets bruises. If I am threatened, you’d never see a girl get scarier. Humorous.

Author’s POV:

Kai growled in distaste as she walked to her home- the orphanage. Yuki ran up to greet her with a warm smile and a cheerful hello. “Hi Kai! Whatcha doin’?” Kai visibly softened before patting her on the head.

Yuki pouted and said, “I’m feeling better now, so I can go to school tomorrow!” “I’m sure you want to go to school on a Sunday.” Kai said gently.

Yuki frowned. The she said, “It’s Sunday already? Goodness, where does all the time go?” Her older twin pushed her gently back into the orphanage, well, she tried to push… Yuki sailed to the ground, somehow managing to skid 12 feet.

She blinked. Then flipped onto her feet singing a sweet song. Yuki pranced into the orphanage, pulling on her sister’s bandana. Kai growled softly, in a mocking way. “Yuki, if you don’t go back to bed right now, I’m going to take your dessert tonight.” Kai threatened.

Yuki’s eyes widened before slitting horribly. “NO,” she screeched, “NO ONE SHALL SEPARATE ME AND THE DESSERTS’ TASTY GOODNESS!!!!!!!” Then she bolted into their bedroom. Kai chuckled before going to see what plans Yuki had made for them tonight.

AN: Yeah...I've pretty much lost inspiration for my other stories, so here's a new one!
