JUST LISTEN

She's quiet on the outside,

But inside she's silently screaming.

She's too afraid to speak her mind,

Even though it's wisdom she'd speak.

She has the intelligence to be successful,

But all she does is dream,

Of a better life, another place,

And that one day in the future when,

She'll find the strength to speak her mind,

And when she speaks, people will listen.

She'll finally be heard and her opinion valued,

Because she speaks from her heart, the truth.

On that day she will realise what all the waiting,

And dreaming and years of silence were for.

But most importantly, she'll learn how to live.

I am that girl, and I hope my day comes soon.

Because the silence is deafening, and this life is killing me.
