Metacognition…so that’s what it’s called. I think, above all things, that is what drives men mad. Put him in a white room for days on end and he goes crazy; Not for hunger or lack of sleep, but for lack of anything to distract him from analyzing his own thought process. This same thing has rendered me insane (by my own warped calculations) for days on end.

Thinking about one’s own thoughts. Has there ever existed a greater paradox? A pair of mirrors facing eachother and the human being spinning endlessly between the two, trying to see the back of his own head. Here is the danger of compulsive thinking. I am thinking of having my brain stapled.

But how does one achieve truly objective thought with this machine whose very function is fueled by bias? How do we free our minds of external influence when it is external influence that shapes them? Can a blind surgeon fix his own eyes? How do we…
