Czarina’s first thought was she hurt everywhere. Opening her eyes, she noticed that she was in a small dark room. Then who should come in but Tareana bearing a small tray.

“You were badly injured. I barely arrived in time-”

Czarina wasn’t very grateful.

“I was doing just fine,” she said sharply.

Tareana continued as if the interruption hadn’t occurred,

“We were hoping you’d reconsider the invitation to join our organization.”

“You freaks can hope until the end of the world for all I care. Never look for me again. I’ve lived on my own for who knows how long. I have no need for weaknesses such as friends or family. I will always be alone because that is what I choose.”

Czarina was growling by the time she finished the last few words. She stood up, walked to the door, and flew into the night as a raven.

Tareana’s response was lost to the vampiress, perhaps for the best. Czarina would not have been ready for the revelation it revealed.

“You cannot escape your destiny daughter of Alexandria, scion of Hekate the Witch Queen. You are the savior of this world. Bringer of the New Age of Light. We shall meet again when the Dark One awakens.”
