Another day,
Another breath of sweet forbidding freedom,
I look at you smile,
Catch a glimpse of those blue eyes,
I see you,
But do you see me?

A passive smile on your lips,
Concealing your precious secrets,
Secrets so dear,
Even I wish I could hear.

A taunting look plays across your face,
Are you forever scheming?
Can you not see me through your eyes?

I feel a tear slide down my cheek,
Why tell him,
Why tell me,

Is it so wrong to wish you well?
To bind you to me and never let you free,

Is it so wrong to hate myself?
To blame me for you
And never believe its true.

Is it so wrong to abandon God?
To blame him for the week he gave to you and took from me.

To cry at your side even after you are gone,
With only a distant memory,
Of a son that was taken from me.

This poem was inspired by a short story that I once read, I cannot recall the title, but it was so sad that it made me cry.
