Why the Willow Weeps

---

Proud and tall she stands

Gracefully twisting

Her branches reaching

Fingerlike to brush

The azure heavens

---

Yet ever she mourns

And her vine like leaves

Cascading like green

Waterfalls of tears

Hang low as she bows

---

Still, she possesses

A mysterious

Beauty that can give

A tremulous hope

To a saddened soul

---

Sympathetic, she

Seems to whisper, “You

Are not alone, I,

Just as you, weep for

Reasons of my own.”

---

The soul, comforted,

Should realize by then

The soft, gentle voice

Was not the tree, but

Our King and Best Friend

---

And, for this reason,

I wonder, perhaps

This is the purpose

Our Creator made

The Willow to weep
