Eve woke up and yawned, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. Rolling out of bed she pulled on a big grey fleece and some fur lined boots and tucked her pajama pants into them. She tied her hair up into a messy bun and opened her bedroom door.

It was early in the morning, the sun was just rising and the birds were just starting to sing. Eve smiled; it was going to be a nice day. Maybe she would go for a ride, her white palfrey mare, Answer, needed the exercise and she hadn’t been out for so long.

Quietly, she padded down the hallway and opened the front door, enjoying the feel of the early morning sun warm her skin. She took one step outside, and had just closed the door when she felt strong arms covering her mouth, and holding her arms behind her back. Someone picked up her feet, and she felt something hit her head. For a moment she felt woozy, as if she was about to be sick, but then she could remember no more.

KIDNAPKIDNAPKIDNAPKIDNAP

When she came round, she was tied to a chair, arms tied to the armrests, a gag in her mouth, sitting stiff backed and tall. She looked around wild eyed, she couldn’t remember how she got here, or why she was here, or why she was tied up like this.

She aught sight of a man sitting silently in the corner, holding a gun in one hand, a walkie talkie in the other, and a radio sitting at his feet. He gave her an evil sort of leer and stood up, still holding the gun.

“So, our precious little Talent’s awake at last,” he said, bringing his face so close to Eve’s they were almost touching. Eve shrank away as much as she could in the chair, but it didn’t do much. She was almost shaking with fear, and her breathing was becoming quicker, “Daddy’s going to pay a lot of money for his precious little daughter.”

So that was what this was all about, money. Eve felt a flash of understanding but it was again quickly replaced by fear. The man turned his back on Eve and sat back down in the chair, Eve closed her eyes, sleep taking her again.
