Ode to Friendships Lost

It is a saddening day
When one considered a friend
No longer sees need
To behave as such

It is a saddening time
When two people
Stop putting forth the effort
To be there for each other

It is a saddening day
When thoughts turn
From love to annoyance
And love leaves the heart

It is a saddening time
When future dreams
Get put on hold
Because conversation ceases to exist

It is a saddening day
When people feel that
They are nothing more than
A thing to be used and discarded

It is a saddening time
When trust turns
To mistrust and love
Turns to loathing

It is a saddening life
When one so close
Has drifted beyond
The reach of hope
