Did you read what was on the dead man’s note?
He did a thing that nobody alive would ever dare.
Did you read what the then live man wrote?
Did you read of the things that he couldn’t bare?
What follows is what it said, in truth,
Although his words might have been uncouth.
“To my mother, my father, my sister and brother.
To those of my fellows who could only hate.
To those of you who saw me and didn’t bother
To help, and instead left me in the hands of dark fate.
Thee I condemn to be curst in your lives and your days.
Thee I condemn to be guilty of my innocent death.
Thee I condemn for the error in your dark and hateful ways,
Thee I condemn for at this moment I do not draw breath.
My family was there through thick and through thin.
My family said they would always lend me an ear.
My family; my life, my soul, my heart did they steer.
My family, they didn’t notice my one heartfelt tear.
My peers, they promised friendship for answers and grades.
My peers, they told my they’d never abandon me.
My peers, they were nothing but treacherous spades.
My peers; I couldn’t recover from their treachory.
The silent, said they’d tell others of any dark danger.
The silent, said they’d tell of any single stark sign.
The silent, didn’t say a word of me, the stranger.
The silent, they saw me but they said no loud line.
You have abandoned me, you who promises made.
You have abandoned me, and I could only see your back.
You have abandoned me, and for your sins I’ve paid.
You have abandoned me, and I can never come back.”
That’s what the dead man wrote, can you believe?
It could have been me, or you who sent him away.
That day, how horrid, his soul his body did leave.
Oh God, where were we all on that fateful day?
Listen my friend, and take good heed of your peer,
And make sure and listen to which way they do steer.
