On the top floor of a tower block,
in the rundown town of Jensfeld,
died a friendless princess, found
five years too late.
The nights were not spent plaiting her hair
or pining for a long-lost love.
The flame,
it just wasn’t there.
And desperate, she would shove
strands of fat shed by
a well-fed cat,
and flounder
in a stuffy
nowhere.
The sight of her skeleton came as a shock
to the shutters blinking at the men who held
it, inwardly sickened, and needlessly
bearing her weight.
“If she wouldn’t eat,
it wasn’t my problem,”
her thirsty mother claimed.
“Why your concern?
We did nothing wrong,”
her thirsty father explained.
This child is not a ‘child’,
but the child does exist.
Five years too late
(five years too late)
Germany finally gets the gist.
1. Jessica is the name of the girl who died after five years of chronic starvation. She died on a Wednesday.
2. She consumed carpet fluff, even tearing out her own hair in order to fend off the hunger.
3. The 'well-fed cat' was the family pet.
4. Her parents are believed to be alcoholic.
