Land of Fear

Maxine Durchova

This pain surrounds, battering my gates,

Unlocking my fear, letting it free. Flowing,

Rolling, drowning in pain, in memories.

I toil to shut them.

The lock is rusty, but weakness is unacceptable

in this land of fear.

Pain is a constant.

Conquer!! My mind screams in agony.

I push, using all my mind, my blackened soul

Using my once living, but now dead, heart.

The gates shut once more, control gained.

Pain blockaded, for just one more day.

Then it will begin again, in this land of fear.
