Fake

She weeps to you

In dark, eerie minor keys

But do you see

The way she laughs?

Her face, so merry, her eyes, so sad

She holds her head up high

But when you're not looking

She cowers 'neath her fear

Her act of confidence

Shatters when she gets home

All alone, her tears don't fall

They cling to her eyes in desperation

"I will not cry"

"I will be strong"

She tells herself as she blinks

Her tears vanish

She stops her rambling

Puts on her mask

Her fake confidence

And smiles her merry smile

Laughs her cheery laugh

Holds her head up high

With her sad eyes
