You saw a shadow on the moon
But it was just the back drift of a balloon
Dear, you’re so desperate for something better
That you make hellfire out of sunny weather

You’re walking all the streets
Looking for someone new to meet
Sometimes you think you hear a distant call
But you turn and your staring at a wall

Worry not, it’s all relative anyways
And it’s not so bad if the skies are always gray
It’s like climbing up a waterfall
If you keep it up you’ll never get anywhere at all

You saw someone new today
Between the reels of an old matinee
You’re right though, you never gain anything
When your life goes around, a ring for a ring

When all of our lives go around and around
Like the distant moan of a merry-go-round
