I turned around today
Thought I saw a tear
Wished that I could hold you close
And comfort all your fears

I looked into your eyes
Saw the emptiness inside
I know the pain you’ve kept so near
The hurt you want to hide

Heard a whisper in my ear
Told me you had gone
I knew that you had left this world
You’d hurt for far too long

If I could have my wish
I’d have you here today
And the pain that you’d been through
Would all be washed away

If only I had known
The emptiness inside
I could have brought you help
You’d have lived instead of died
