flying o’er obsidian crosses

you weep mercury tears for jade butterflies

& pray to a fey chorus of childhood voices

we carved your shadows on desert ashes as a symbol for your requiem

and waited patiently for your tears to illuminate

our frangible lapis lazuli stones

--

but thy seraphic symphonies were lost beneath the seas

& thine alabaster hand recorded our history in

faded lachrymose indigo ink

--

we remember gossamer dreams of dies irae

--
