It had been six months since what had been dubbed the Basilisk Conflict. All brigands that had been captured during the battles had been executed after interrogation, and the military came to learn the truth behind the uprising. Despite having this knowledge, Fredrick ‘The Smith’ Henderson was still considered a wanted man and is yet to be found.

Having been involved in Illis military operations for so long, Fredrick and Heathcliff knew the proper ways to avoid detection. The two of them and the remainder of Hell’s Gate have since degenerated into a gang of low-key bandits, taking whatever goods they could to survive. Still, Fredrick wanted to repent for his transgressions and forced his followers into raiding any of those who came across their path and dared to trespass on Illis soil.

The injury on his right arm had not been healing properly and likely to need amputation in the near future.

Taro followed the instructions on the map left for him and brought Kanna back home. Having had a lot of time to think about her life, Kanna decided to leave the military, though continues to train out of habit. The couple are now preparing for their firstborn.

Goddess’ Mercy had all but disbanded as a result of the news, though the founding members and those that had guarded the cabin would gather for drinks when able. All in all, their group had been content, having never needed to do anything that would endanger them and something to laugh about in darker times.

It took more than two months, but Shintoshi finally managed to return home after an extended stay at Widoc. Their tests managed to uncover several diseases in his system and were successfully treated. However, there remained one more that they could not identify and was presumed to have had originated in Tehran’s body when he combined so many viruses within his body.

He and Rinslet are now waiting on the birth of their third, and what they plan to be final, child.

Ciel was sent orders that prevented her from being a part of Vorhang and returned to Shadow Glade. After her departure, Shintoshi selected three new retainers from the ranks of his army.

As per the request in Goke’s response to the promotion offer, Shayla’s record had been reviewed and was finally offered the promotion she had desired for so long. In the offer there was an order that placed her as the new military head of Roxembre.

She gladly accepted.

Once her child was born – a girl – she gave it to Goke, along with the deed to her house, and parted ways with one last comment. Should the child ever come see her, she intended to kill the brat. She had no trouble expressing such sentiments, for had it not been for his whining, she’d have had it aborted in the first place. With everything packed, Shayla traveled to her new home with Jarvis in tow.

Goke quickly begged for all available jobs with construction yards all about Ravis in order to earn what extra he’d need as a father.

Jeth, having begrudgingly dipped into the funds left to him by his brother, had his home rebuilt and had his new wife move in as to be closer to his child. His life continued on as it always had, and he intends to repay all that he had used from the funds, not wanting any charity or debts.

Ruri and Rica, now traveling with Avir, are seeing what the continent has to offer and have already all but forgotten their home. Though they had originally planned to send messages home every now and again to let their family know about everything they’ve experienced and that they were still alive, it was pushed aside as one of those things they could do later. When there wasn’t much else to do.

Avir had come to enjoy the company and found his travels easier as the girls became better at hunting, setting up camp, and defending themselves against thieves.

Seele was relieved that both he and Helena were able to return home unharmed from the whole incident. After a short break, the couple started trying for a second child.

Not wanting to cause waves in their relationship, Helena has kept her husband in the dark about her prior relationship with Taro. Kanna and Taro both knew better than to mention it to Seele.

The former Champion, Troy, is happily retired, spending his days attending any operas or other musical performances that appear in the general area and fishing when there aren’t any. Having been a beloved tutor to many, every now and then he is visited by one of his former students or comrades for friendly conversation.

Inova has become the most common place for members of Vorhang to visit when granted free time.
Kain Derchild’s life had not been peaceful over the last six months, being forced to spend every moment scouting for invading armies, as Illis still seeks to restore the power lost from the rebellion. Without a rapid interception of the enemy, the kingdom would be at far greater risk.

While on patrol, Kain always seeks the location of Henderson and his followers in order to once and for all exterminate the traitor. He has never forgiven himself for failing to take Fredrick’s head as a trophy for all his malicious comments about his beloved.

Scientists at Widoc are just now beginning to celebrate the outcome of their longest running experiment. With this, they believed, it didn’t matter that Hell’s Gate had been lost. Replacements would be found.

I hope you enjoyed this story. This one will remain one of my favorite projects, and I don't intend to leave it like this. In a while (maybe a couple months) expect to see "Spirit War - Origins" make its debut. It will be a collection of short stories (1-2 chapter stories) that cover the lives of the characters before the beginning of "Spirit War". When Goke met Shayla, Shintoshi's crush, J01-MN8, and more. Until next time, thank you for reading.
