Where force is mass and mass is wave

And all becomes one thing;

Throughout the ten dimensions

Hangs a tiny, singing string.

Alone, it can do nothing

But around it, many more,

Till the infinite vibrations

Crash like waves upon a shore.

The strings are dancing, making music

The universe is bound into it

None can hear, all can feel

The dance is all that makes us real.

Quarks inside the hadron waltz

A trio turning, held by force.

Force and quark can feel the song

Dancing, make it carry on.

Proton, neutron, swiftly turn

The lepton moved and so they learn.

Feel the shiver, know the tune

Dance in time for all time too.

Atoms close together whirl

And from their steps the molecule

Spins alone or in a line

Keeps on dancing all the time.

Small things drift, or spin, or fall

The music has them, moves them all.

Life breaths, and lives, and loves, and dies

The dance has never passed it by.

Moons round planets, worlds round suns

Spin and dip, in groups or ones.

Some slow, some fast, some weak, some strong

None stop, none wait, all hear the song.

Galaxies turn in aeon’s measure

Their whirling graceful, like a feather.

Pirouette round each other’s lights

In their world of wondrous sights.

The universe may dance alone,

Or with others to that tune.

Either way, its dance is long

Eternity will end the song.

Universe and galaxy

Sun and world and matter small

Atoms, hadrons, quarks all see

The music made and moves us all.

The music and the dance are one

And both these things are us.

Just by being, soul or none,

We help to make things wondrous.
