There she was.

She walked slowly down the school corridor, blending in with all the other children gathered there. She was one of those who hated to stand out of the crowd. She was one of those who hid in her group of friends, afraid of being hurt, afraid of being told she was ‘different’. Yet, she was different in a way. In her way. For within a school of ordinary students, she, in spite of everything, had a beautiful talent, although she kept it well hidden.

At six years old, she had discovered the beauty of music, and by the time she was seven, had perfect rhythm. When she could hear her parents’ music playing loudly from downstairs, she often lost all sense of control, and found her body moving in time with the music, dancing around her bedroom, her face full of pure happiness. When she turned eight, she turned these first tentative moves into loud and beautiful routines, moving flawlessly across the room with such essence, and there was nobody there to tell her she could not dance, or even that she danced differently to everyone else.
