The Plight of College Students

I stare bewildered

At the algebraic functions

Spread across my paper

And look with timid anxiety

Around the room.

I see the remnants

Of historical timelines

And flashcards

To help the memorization

Of the great US men.

I wonder how I’ll ever

Finish my science lab

That’s due this Thursday,

Or the self critique of

The speech I’m sure

I failed.

It’s hopeless.

No, it’s pathetic.

But what can I say?

This is my life.

I’m a college student.
